Another experiment in the buttercups series.
Watercolour on board, inspired by the same photo taken on the slope near home in Wales.
I must admit, it is a painting that either you like or dislike.
The intention was to study another possible way to paint it and I do particularly like the effect I got on the yellow petals. I used the "wet-in-wet" technique, where I filled in the petals with a layer of water and then I added a drop of colour inside and made it spread by itself. The result was having petals without edges or lines but a graduation of yellow.
The background was obtained with the use of granulation medium and masking fluid.
